Paddington Recreation Ground launches DSActive tennis with QPR In The Community Trust

QPR In The Community Trust began running DSActive football sessions since 2008 and now have 4 successful groups running across West London.

They have now launched a DSActive tennis session at Paddington Recreation Ground, with the help of the Tennis Foundation. The DSActive team went along to see how their first session went…and even had to demonstrate their own tennis skills in a game at the end of the evening!

The tennis courts at Paddington Recreation Ground are in the east corner of the park, just off Randolph Avenue. There are 12 tennis courts in total and all of them were busy on the Thursday evening we visited. It was great to see so many people enjoying playing tennis. The DSActive tennis session had the use of courts 11 and 12 and it was wonderful to welcome some new faces.

After a good warm up the players were taken through several drills to work on specific aspects of tennis. The drills were adapted to suit the ability of each player. Some had played a lot of tennis before whereas some had never picked up a tennis racket before that evening. The evening ended with a very competitive match that got the coach playing, as well as representatives from the Tennis Foundation, QPR and DSActive. It was a great way to finish and every thoroughly enjoyed the session.
