The Telford Tennis Centre has become the latest tennis centre to offer a DSActive tennis session. The new session was launched with an open day for new players, supported by Tennis Shropshire, Tennis Foundation and Energize Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

To celebrate the new DSActive tennis session being launched with Telford Tennis Centre, the centre ran an open day on a sunny Saturday for the new players to come along and test their tennis skills. Eight participants came along and it was a great mix of ages and abilities. The session started with a warm-up before the players went onto start a variety of drills that focused on the different skills involved in tennis.

Tennis is a very adaptable sport, even if you haven’t played before you can pick up a racket and get started. The coaches ensured that every drill was designed to be suited to the player and the standard was very high. It was great to see all the coaches getting involved in the session, even if they were getting shown up by some of the players!

The session ended by honouring a very British tradition of having some lovely strawberries and cream.

The DSActive team member said: “It was a really great first session, the coaches were excellent and the players were all very good. A huge thank you to all of the partners who have helped us get this session off the ground and I’m sure the session will continue to grow in popularity.”
