Albion in the Community is the official charity of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. Last month we paid a visit to one of their events for people with Down’s syndrome.

Over 25 people with Down’s syndrome attended. During the day, FA qualified coaches and volunteers ran different drills, allowing the players to work on their key skills, including passing and shooting. The day ended with a brilliant game of football, where the players got to show off what they had been practising during the day.

All the players enjoyed the day, and everyone was very excited when, just before the lunch break, Brighton & Hove Albion mascot, Gully popped in to say ‘hello’. Everyone gave Gully a high-five and a big welcome, and all of the players had a go at taking a penalty against him. I don’t think Gully will be starting in goal for Brighton & Hove Albion anytime soon!
