The DSActive sessions run by Swansea Community Trust are approaching their first anniversary, and one of the DSActive team dropped in to see how they were getting on.
The sessions give everyone the chance to play football and meet new friends in a fun and positive environment. The club run two sessions, one for juniors and one for adults, which are adapted to suit the needs of the players. The first session for the juniors is geared around having fun and improving their basic motor skills, such as kicking, running and jumping. It is always fantastic to see young children enjoying their sport and having fun with their new friends. One of the great elements of the session is the involvement of the parents. All of the parents enjoy participating in the session with their child, and it is hard to say who is the most tired by the end of the hour of football.
Following the younger ones, the session for the adults takes place outside on the 3G pitches. The session is geared around the development of specific football skills, as well as improving their team work. The session culminates in a match to get everyone ready for this year’s DSActive National Festival which is fast approaching.
“It was great fun to be at the session this week, it is always great to see the young players enjoying themselves and improving their skills. I’m looking forward to seeing this Swansea team participate in the National Festival for the first time this year, I think they might cause a few upsets.” DSActive Team Member.
