Norwich tennis taster day

On the Sunday of the first Great British Tennis Weekend of the year, East Anglia Tennis and Squash Club played host to a tennis taster day, run in association with DSActive and the Tennis Foundation.

The event attracted a fantastic turn out for a taster day. Ten people with Down’s syndrome, of various ages, came along with many trying out tennis for the first time.

Cheered on by their parents, the players worked through a range of drills with fantastic support from head coach Derek and his army of volunteers. The players got the chance to improve their skills and also to have a really fun time.

The feedback from the parents was incredibly positive and the smiles on the faces of everyone showed how much everyone had enjoyed the session.

Due to the success of this event, DSActive, East Anglia Tennis and Squash Club and the Tennis Foundation are hoping to work together to set up a regular DSActive session for players from the surrounding area.

The Norwich session made the perfect end to a very successful Great British Tennis Weekend, and we all can’t wait for the next one at the end of July.
