Argyle Community Trust is the official charity partner of Plymouth Argyle Football Club and helps over 30,000 people every year achieve their goals through sport.
The power of football and the profile of Plymouth Argyle Football Club are harnessed to deliver a range of sports, education, health and community programmes through the Argyle Community Trust. The Trusts vision is to help people achieve their goals by delivering quality, innovative services through football and sport.
It was Plymouth Argyle’s fifth DSActive session last weekend. It was great to welcome five players who demonstrated some fantastic skills throughout the morning and several goals were scored. The players loved all the different activities that the coaches set up for them and there were smiles all round.
Josh Grant who is the health and disability officer, who also coaches the players said:
“As a coach in disability football the most rewarding things to see is a player remaining active, having fun and developing their skills. After just four weeks of running our sessions for players with Down’s syndrome we have seen all of these things. The guys that come along are free to express themselves with a football in a fun and comfortable environment. We look forward to welcoming new faces to our future sessions, any age and gender welcome!”
Participants at the session also received a DSActive goodie bag which contained logbooks for the players and parents to fill in together. This means the players, parents and coaches can track the player’s progression within the session, which they seemed to be very excited about.
One parent said “it’s great that I can talk to my son about his progression outside of the session and it gives us something to do together when it comes to him playing football. He absolutely loves coming to the sessions and really enjoys himself.”
Plymouth Argyle run their sessions monthly.
The next session is on 25 February. Find out more here.
