Great rallying at Swindon’s tennis session

Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group believe that tennis is a great activity for children. Their Delta Tennis Club sessions provide training in the skills and techniques needed to play as well as giving the children the opportunity to interact with others and have some fun.

During a recent visit to a session of the Delta Tennis Club the DSActive team couldn’t believe the fantastic talent that was on show. The players were fantastic and very eager to learn throughout the session, from the warm up right through to practising different tennis skills. It was really nice to see.

One of the players said “I love playing tennis and I love coming here to practise my skills. One day I want to be a professional tennis player.”

It was very clear to see how much the players enjoyed the session. A lot of that was down to the great coaching…players were learning different skills and techniques but they were having fun, which is what DSActive is all about.

Towards the end of the session, two of the players were having a rally and both were outstanding! The DSActive sport officer said:

“It’s been so nice to see the session; some of the players really are fantastic! It’s nice to see the players take what they are learning in the session, putting the skills and techniques into practise within a rally. There were smiles all round and that’s the main thing.”
