Newham and Essex Beagles have launched a new DSActive athletics session in Newham, East London. This is the first DSActive athletics session in London.
The athletics club run a variety of sessions for the local community and the president of the club is British Olympic Champion, Christine Ohuruogu, who won gold at Beijing 2008 and silver at London 2012.
The DSActive team said: “Athletics has so many different activities and different elements, such as walking, running, jumping or throwing. It is a sport for everyone, of all abilities, within the local communities.”
A mother from Newham said: “My son attends DSActive sessions. This gives him another opportunity to stay active and play a new sport.”
The sessions will take place at Newham Leisure Centre and are open to people with Down’s syndrome of all abilities.
