DSActive is proud to announce that we have been approved to become a CIMSPA Skills Development Partner. CIMSPA is the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector and has been awarded chartered status by the Privy Council, which came into effect at the start of January 2012.
CIMSPA provide leadership, support and empowerment for professionals working in sport and physical activity and a single unified voice for the sector. The Institute holds two long term strategic priorities:
- To provide opportunities for young leaders to develop and succeed
- To provide leadership on the development and management of career pathways.
DSActive will be a running a CIMSPA accredited workshop called DSActive Leisure and Fitness Workshop. The workshop is three-hours long and contains theory and practical elements. It is ideal for professionals working within leisure and fitness centres such as: duty managers, personal trainers, sports coaches, membership managers, marketing managers, receptionists, catering managers and health & safety managers.

Our research shows that people with Down’s syndrome have significant barriers to using leisure and fitness facilities, and we are looking forward to working with forward-thinking individuals and companies to remove these barriers. We’re delighted to have our course accredited by CIMPSA as this will help us reach as many different organisations and individuals as possible.”

Cost – £30 for CIMSPA Members, £35 for non-CIMSPA members.
Venue – Down’s Syndrome Association, Langdon Down Centre, 2a Langdon Park, Teddington, TW11 9PS
Please note for CIMSPA members this workshop is 3 CIMSPA Points.
The aims of the workshop are:
- to give staff from leisure and fitness providers an understanding of Down’s syndrome and possible health conditions
- to bust myths and provide facts and correct terminology
- share our research and case studies
- discuss barriers, improvements and take suggestions
