The Aegon Surbiton Tennis Trophy is held in June at the Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club. It’s a tournament for professional players, male and female, and is part of the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Women’s Circuit.
For the second year in a row it also hosted a DSActive tennis festival. It was great to see so many people come along this year including players who had never tried tennis before, players from other DSActive sessions as well as players who attended the festival last year and wanted to be part of it again.
It was a perfect, sunny day for tennis. Everybody started the day with a group warm up which was a great way for the players to start to get to know each other.
One player commented:
“This is really fun, I love playing tennis.”
Once everybody had warmed up and begun to get to know each other the real fun started. Players had 1-1 sessions with the coaches, focusing on their forehands and back hands. There were some really impressive forehands on display, and with some power too!
Two players from the Surbiton DSActive tennis session were having a fantastic game of tennis with some very impressive backhands, which is what they were practising during the day.
The day finished nicely with a group game which the players really enjoyed. Everybody then went their separate ways to go and watch some of the tournament matches, ending the day on a real high.
Thanks to the coaches at Surbiton for being so brilliant with the players…the day was loved by all who took part.
