A day at the Better Health, Better Lives event

The DSActive team are no strangers to the motorways of the country, and last week 2 of them headed down the M5 to Devon to present at the Better Health, Better Lives event held at Hannah’s at Seale-Hayne. The event was for people with a learning disability to find out more about keeping well and living an active life. The DSActive team were there to provide information on the programme, our nutrition campaign and promote the DSActive sessions in the area.

The event started with a speech by the new patron for the Down’s Syndrome Association, the wonderful chef Michael Caines MBE. This was followed by a very powerful dance performance by a local dance group before the event was officially opened. Inside the Great Hall, there were a series of stalls promoting various aspects of living a healthy life, from nutrition and exercise to safe travel and living independently. In the main courtyard, there were further stalls providing tasty health food, a performance from a drumming group and a variety of fun activities to try out.

Living a healthy life is so important for everyone, it can make you feel better and help you to enjoy the activities you like to engage in, from walking to running and everything in between. The event really highlighted how we can all take small steps to improve our health and the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.

The DSActive team would like to thank representatives from all of our sessions in the area for coming along to the event!
